International Sports Federation FISU

The International University Sports Federation FISU holds a Summer and Winter Universiade every two years. The FISU awarded the Winter Universiade 2021 to Central Switzerland, which will be the second time the event has been held in Switzerland.

Universities in the USA, England and Switzerland were already organising international sports events for students by the beginning of the 19th century. The International University Sports Federation FISU was founded in 1949. FISU is based in Lausanne and now has 174 member federations, including Swiss University Sports.
